The founders of the Junghans brand, founded on April 15, 1861 in Schramberg, Germany, were Erhard Junghans and his brother-in-law Jakobe Zeller-Tobler. Many years later, in 1903, the company had the world's largest clock factory, with more than 3,000 employees. In 1927 Junghans began designing watches with mechanical winding. In the 1950s, through hard work and the refinement of successive calibers, the company established a partnership with Bauhaus designer Max Bill, culminating in a mechanical wristwatch with a distinctive minimalist design, launched in 1961.At the end of the 1980s, the first radio-controlled table clock was produced, in 1990 the first radio-controlled wristwatch appeared, called the MEGA 1, while five years later the company unveiled a solar watch with a ceramic case that was innovative for its time.
